Our standard LSS-2380 Warning Module with visual and audible warning abilities mounts cleanly on the surface of the wall beside the entry door. The posted warning sign references this module to warn of the present laser state.
The warning meets the requirements of ANSI Z136.1-2007, sections 4.3.9.4, 4.3.9.4.1, and 4.3.9.4.2
$268
LSS-2381 Interlock Control Module to arm and disarm the laser interlock system. It is mounted on the wall surface at a convenient location in the laser area. The yellow illuminated arming button reminds workers in the area when the system is armed.
$260
LSS-2384 Laser/Shutter Interface Module attaches to the laser power supply interlock connector. It is mounted on the wall near the laser power supply or on the laser table itself. Two lasers or laser shutters can be interlocked by this single module. If additional interlocks are required, multiple modules can be purchased. The interlock system 24VDC power is brought in at this location from a wall-wart power supply at the same time the relay contacts for the laser are brought out.
$190
One LSS-2385 Door Access Control Kit.
The kit contains all necessary components to interlock a door for defeatable access in accordance with ANSI Z136.1-2007 section 4.3.10.2.2.
The crash modules on each side of the door satisfy section 4.3.10.2 and fire safety codes that require the magnetic lock release in the event of emergency.
The included magnetic lock is a failsafe device. Removal of power immediately releases the door.
The dual door position switches form a redundant interlock on door position. In the unlikely event sufficient force were used to bypass the magnetic lock, the position switches would sense the unauthorized opening and trip the entire interlock system.
Complete Access Control Kit $1525
Class 4 laser areas in a research or university environment usually run long term experiments that require unattended operation. In such cases, defeatable entryway controls are appropriate. By design, persons who have been properly trained and given the keypad access code may momentarily "defeat" the interlock to enter and exit the laser controlled area protected by a magnetically locked door.
The client has the option of placing defeatable access control kits on both doors, but the ANSI standard suggests a non-defeatable interlock on the second door if this is acceptable for the intended use of the room. This is safer and offers a significant cost savings over dual defeatable accesses. In this scenario, a curtain is not required at the second door.
Laser Safety Systems recommends the following solution:
A client at a Department of Energy Lab has a laser area with multiple class 4 lasers and two doors.
One LSS2387 Door/Curtain Closure Module with dual position sensors is placed on the door. With this module in place, an opening of the door will immediately trip the room interlock.
LSS-2387 and Dual Position Sensors $243
